Lovely ripe nose, red fruits, beetroot, raspberry, cherry and some earth. From 25 year old vines in between Chassagne and Santenay. 100% de-stemmed, 15% in new oak. Vibrant but structured, a definite 'buy'. RKL "Ripe, honest nose with some flair. Polished and richer and more approachable than some of the Côte d'Or Bourgogne Rouges, though with firm structure too. Drink 2023 – 2028. 16 points" jancisrobinson.com Close

Elegant blackcurrant fruit with wonderful purity, very fine and elegant fine but the duration leaves no doubt about GC status, building on the palate (pheasant's tail....). Wonderfully elegant. RKL "The 2018 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru is another of the portfolio's high-points this year, bursting with aromas of wild berries, orange rind, incense and smoked meats. On the palate, it's full-bodied, fleshy and textural, with old-vine concentration, broad shoulders and a long finish. While this is a muscular, serious Charmes, it's also very elegantly rendered. 93-95 points" William Kelley, RobertParker.com Close

Powerful and concentrated with lots of black cherry aromas. Very phenolic, intense fruit, juicy, pleasingly rustic and energetic, will require 6-7 years in cellar. RKL "Moderate wood and menthol influences frame the intensely earthy and gamy aromas of both red and dark currant. There is excellent energy to the stony medium weight plus flavors that are at once succulent yet powerful where the latter carries over to the serious, firmly structured and mildly warm finish that goes on and on. This somewhat rustic effort is very Corton in basic character and a wine that's going to require patience. (93-95 points)/2040+" Burghound "Aromas of wild berries, dark chocolate, grilled squab, warm spices and forest floor introduce the 2018 Corton Grand Cru Clos des Cortons Faiveley, a medium to full-bodied, youthfully reserved wine that's deep, lively and concentrated, concluding with a long and beautifully defined finish. This is another terrific rendition of Faiveley's emblematic grand cru in the making. 93-95 points" William Kelley, RobertParker.com Close

Another 'wow' here, a real jump up in concentration from the Lavaux; Cazetier is full with black fruits and enormous intensity, generous and rich with lots of spice, brilliant in 2018. RKL "This is very Gevrey in character with plenty of sauvage, freshly turned earth, forest floor and brooding wild dark berry and cassis scents. There is fine richness to the concentrated, powerful and full-bodied flavors that exhibit a subtle minerality on the moderately austere and impressively long and slightly grippy finale. (90-93 points)/2030+" Burghound "Mingling aromas of sweet wild berries with rich bass notes of forest floor, spice and grilled squab, the 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Cazetiers is medium to full-bodied, broad and concentrated, with rich structuring tannins, comparatively low acidity and a long, sapid finish. 92-94 points" William Kelley, RobertParker.com Close

Intense dark fruits on the nose with excellent purity. Much more restrained on the palate, with very fine tannins and dark fruit flavours, blackcurrant and black cherry. The tannins sustain the long, satisfying finish and the overall impression is of a really delightful Cote d'Or red, great value. RKL "Bright cherry red. Really quite interesting and layered aromatically already. A hint of oak lingers but the fruit is pretty seductive, and doesn't seem overripe – though it's quite fruity and is much less austere than the Bourgogne Rouge 2018. Could be great for burgundy lovers in a hurry – though probably not for purists. GV. Drink 2021 – 2024. 16 points" jancisrobinson.com Close

From a small 1er Cru site which is almost a monopole of Drouhin Laroze (no other growers own enough here to bottle the wine on its own). Located just in front of Mazis-Chambertin. 20% in new oak. Concentrated dark fruits but more elegant than expected in 2018, with very fine tannins giving a complex, creamy textured effect on the palate (some definite similarities with Mazis). RKL "The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Au Closeau 1er Cru has a wonderful bouquet of red currant, cranberry and light sous-bois aromas, all very focused and nicely detailed. The palate is equipped with fine, supple tannins that render this a pliant Gevrey-Chambertin, although there is some new oak on the finish that needs to be subsumed. At 60%, I can see how a little more prudence might have been preferable. Not bad, but I would like to see how this develops and eats up that new wood. 89-91 points" Neal Martin, Vinous.com Close
