Tasting Notes"The 2019 Condrieu La Doriane is another tremendous effort from this estate that does everything right. Reminding me slightly of the 2015 with its power and richness, it still has plenty of freshness in its apricot, ripe pineapple, honeyed marmalade, flowers, and cream aromas and flavors. Already complex and full-bodied, with good acidity and a fabulous finish, this is a quintessential expression of this cuvée and it’s hard to imagine how it would be any better. These always have the capacity to age, yet I find them most enjoyable with 6-12 months of bottle age and then over the following 3-5 years. 98 points." Jeb Dunnuck, jebdunnuck.com
RED 2019 Jaboulet - Crozes Hermitage Thalabert 75cl £99 per case of 6 Jaboulet

£99 per case of 6
IB
Tasting Notes"The 2019 Crozes-Hermitage Domaine De Thalabert showed well, with a floral, pepper, and sappy herb style as well as plenty of darker cherry and currant fruit. With medium to full body, a vibrant, elegant texture, present tannins, and good acidity, this is a classic, balanced Thalabert to hide for 2-4 years and enjoy over the following decade or more. 92-94 points." Jeb Dunnuck
RED 2019 Jaboulet - Hermitage La Chapelle 75cl £726 per case of 6 Jaboulet
2019 / / 75cl

Tasting Notes"Compared to the La Maison Bleue, the 2019 Hermitage La Chapelle is more closed, tight, and primary, with a focused, full-bodied style that carries impressive black and blue fruits, graphite, bloody meat, and ample minerality. Structured and tannic, yet wonderfully concentrated and pure, it's not for those seeking instant gratification, but it’s another stunning Hermitage in the making. 96-98+ points." Jeb Dunnuck "Like La Maison Bleue, La Chapelle barely moved an inch over the five days that it sat open (and gradually oxidising) on my tasting bench. This is a monumental wine with the finest Syrah nose I have seen since the ethereal and intriguing beauty of the remarkable 2016 vintage and also the monolithic stance of the legendary 1990. However, this is not to say that this vintage can be directly compared to either year. There is a latent power about this wine that is as elusive as it is impressive. This solaire vintage has certainly given La Chapelle a sense of foreboding power and yet there is so much grace here, too. You could be sniffing a handful of granite and gravel, a bouquet of freshly picked herbs, a mortar of freshly ground pepper or a punnet of juicy black fruit and yet there is so much more to discover here. What I find so remarkable about this wine is that it does not show any trace of over-ripeness nor does it have any unwanted oiliness or excessive alcohol. In spite of its richness and depth, this is a pristinely refreshing wine with crunch and crackle of filigree tannin which enlivens every sip. In this regard, it is a far less obvious superstar than the preening 1990 and it is a more erudite and statuesque model than the esoteric 2016. In short, this is one of only a handful of vintages of La Chapelle to which I have awarded a perfect score and who is to say that this will not happen again before too long? The care and attention in this entire portfolio of wines are evident and the hard work and holistic approach are not only paying off in the vineyards but also in the glass, too, and this makes 2019 another phenomenally successful vintage for Jaboulet. 20++ pts." Tasting NotesDark and opaque core but with bright ruby rim. Explosive aromas of black fruits of every description on the nose...blackberry, black cherry and brambles show themselves in layer after layer. There also savoury notes of olive and some spices. Despite the intensity it is fresh on the nose and palate, with a wonderful silky texture to it. RKL

2019 / / 75cl
£260 per case of 12

Tasting Notes"Moving to the Chateauneuf du Pape releases and a blend of 70% Grenache and 30% Mourvèdre, the classic 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape is a winner that’s well worth a case purchase, and it offers a ripe, powerful style that stays perfectly balanced and even elegant. Lots of black raspberries, toasted spices, dried garrigue, lavender, and licorice notes all emerge from the glass and this Provençal, full-bodied barrel sample will offer pleasure right out of the gate yet evolve for 15 years or more. 92-94 points." Jeb Dunnuck, Jun 2020

Tasting Notes"Looking at the flagship 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape from this benchmark estate, it reveals a denser ruby/purple color as well as stunning notes of smoked red and black fruits, crushed rocks, peppery garrigue, and truffly earth. Hitting the palate with full-bodied richness, it stays tight and compact on the palate, with terrific mid-palate depth, a focused, structured mouthfeel, and one great finish. This is a brilliant Châteauneuf du Pape from the Brunier family that’s going to benefit from upwards of 5-7 years of bottle age and have 30+ years of overall longevity. 96-98 points." Jeb Dunnuck, Jun 2020
RED 2019 Yann Chave - Crozes Hermitage Le Rouvre 75cl £220 per case of 12 Yann Chave
2019 / / 75cl
£220 per case of 12

Tasting Notes"Highly perfumed aromas of fresh cherry and dark berries, candied flowers, exotic spices and incense. Juicy and seamless in texture, offering bitter cherry, black raspberry and spicecake flavors that show fine definition and become sweeter as the wine opens up. Finishes on a resonating floral note, displaying formidable tenacity, intertwined tannins and strongly persistent spiciness. This might turn out to be the best version of this bottling I have ever experienced. 93-95 points." Josh Raynolds, Vinous.com
RED 2019 Yann Chave - Crozes Hermitage Tradition 75cl £160 per case of 12 Yann Chave
2019 / / 75cl

Tasting Notes"Spice-accented blueberry, cherry and a hint of cracked pepper on the highly fragrant nose. Appealingly sweet and energetic in style, showing very good depth and sharp detail to the juicy, spice-tinged black/blue fruit flavors. Shows a building floral quality and energetic lift on the subtly tannic finish, which leaves behind a spicy suggestion of white pepper. 91-93 points." Josh Raynolds, Vinous.com
RED 2019 Yann Chave - Hermitage 75cl £320 per case of 6 Yann Chave

Tasting Notes"A complex bouquet evokes ripe blackberry, cherry compote, licorice and violet, energized by a spicy cracked pepper nuance. Broad and fleshy in the mouth, offering densely packed, smoke-tinged black/blue fruit, exotic spice and floral pastille flavors that pick up a minerally nuance as the wine opens up. Shows superb delineation and spicy lift on a long, silky finish framed by steadily building tannins. There were five demi-muids of this wine in 2019, all of them new. 94-96 points." Josh Raynolds, Vinous.com "Glass-staining purple colour. Incredibly powerful with Glass-staining purple colour. Incredibly powerful with searching perfume, leaf tea and glove leather behind the intense black fruits. Very fine and deep, perhaps just a touch too high in alcohol, a little overextracted. Phenomenal concentration and length however. A growling, brooding power, this could only be Hermitage. From vines of nearly 50 years of age grown organically on lieux-dits Beaumes and Péléat, matured in demi-muids with malolactic fermentation in barrel. Drinking Window 2027 - 2043. 96 points."
