2021 Château Haut-Brisson En Primeur

Château Haut-Brisson Grand Cru St-Émilion benefits from the same investment and passionate focus on quality as Peter Kwok's other estates, Enclos Tourmaline and Château Tour Saint-Christophe.

2021 Notes:

"Blueberry and raspberry fruits have depth through the mid palate, and there is depth and pleasure to the body of the wine. Firm in its tannic frame, this has had a run of excellent vintages but struggles a little more with full ripeness in 2021.  88 points." (JA) Apr 2022

"The 2021 Haut-Brisson is a real stand out. Dark cherry. plum., chocolate, licorice and spice all come through this mid-weight yet sumptuous Saint-Emilion. Expressive and vibrant, with terrific balance, Haut-Brisson is pretty hard to resist. It should drink well right out of the gate.  90-92 points." (AG) Apr 2022

"The 2021 Haut-Brisson is the product of low yields, as this site was impacted by the April frosts. Delivering aromas of sweet berry, plums, licorice and orange rind, it's medium to full-bodied, broad and textural, with a fleshy core of fruit and powdery tannins that assert themselves on the finish.  90-92 points."  Wine Advocate (WK) Apr 2022

Offered en primeur, landing spring 2024.

Producer Profile

Château Haut-Brisson

Château Haut-Brisson is a Grand Cru in St.-Émilion.  Owned since 1997 by financier and wine estate owner Peter Kwok, the estate was recently sold to internet entrepreneur Stéphane Schinazi, however the winemaking is still managed by Kwok's team.

The vines are on the limestone plateau of Saint-Etienne-de-Lisse and the gravelly hilltops of Saint-Sulpice de Faleyrens and spread over 20 hectares. The terroir of Château Haut Brisson is clay-limestone and 'Graves': Brown clay-loam soil on ocher and whitish clay with limestone subsoil.  The 17.94 hectare of vineyards are planted to 65% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, averaging 30 years of age.
