Tasting Notes"One of the gems in the vintage is the 2013 Hermitage Domaine des Tourettes, which comes from both the Bessards and Grandes Vignes lieux-dits on Hermitage Hill. Completely destemmed, then vinified in stainless steel and concrete tanks, the wine is aged 18 months in 30% new French oak; it offers terrific notes of dark fruits, graphite and ample minerality in a full-bodied, layered, ripe profile. It's more approachable than the Les Bessards, yet will still have three decades of longevity. 2015-2045. 94 points" Jeb Dunnock, RobertParker.com

Tasting Notes"Closed, tight and backwards, the 2013 Hermitage les Bessards is a big, full-bodied, burly wine that offers first rate purity in its black raspberry, ozone, liquid rock, and creosote-like bouquet. It has plenty of material and density, but will need 7-8 years of bottle age to become approachable. As normal, it comes all from the "Bas de Coteau" portion of the Bessards lieu-dit, was completely destemmed and saw 18 months in 30% new French oak. 2022-2045. 94+ points" Jeb Dunnock, RobertParker.com

Tasting Notes"Cask sample. Rich soils and expression. Solid, rich and hugely friendly. Exuberant. But denser than the Greffieux. 2018-2038. 18 points." Jancis Robinson, June 2015 "Another inky colored wine that has a touch of blue at the rim, the 2014 Ermitage Le Méal offers a liqueur of blackberry-like perfume to go with lots of wood smoke (it sees a scant 25% new oak), licorice, smoked herbs and black raspberries. Big, rich, full-bodied and layered with plenty of building tannin, it will be a candidate for 2-4 years of cellaring and drink well over the following two decades. 95-97 points." Tasting Notes"Probably the Côtes du Rhône of the vintage (which is not unusual), the 2015 Côtes du Rhône Reserve got a few expletives in the notes and is a giant killer! Its deep ruby/purple color is followed by awesome notes of black raspberries, graphite, crushed herbs and licorice. Full-bodied, incredibly pure and elegant, with serious depth and power, it's a fabulous effort that I'd be thrilled to have in the cellar. 93-95 points" RobertParker.com (JD)

Tasting Notes"A blend of Syrah grapes from several lieux-dits, including Les Bessards, the 2015 Hermitage Domaine des Tourettes is aged in new and second use barrels. It's a dark, concentrated wine, meaty, rich and tannic but with a bright beam of cassis fruit that lifts it and gives it great definition and shape on the palate. Give this medium to full-bodied wine at least 5 years in the cellar and drink it over the next 15. 2022-2037. 94 points" Joe Czerwinski, RobertParker.com

Tasting Notes"Like the base cuvée, yet even richer, more powerful, and decadent, the 2015 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Quet is a blend of 80% Grenache and 20% Mourvèdre that was raised in very old barrels and oak tanks. Full-bodied, ripe, sexy and about as hedonistic as it gets in 2015, this beauty has tons of sweet tannin, a huge mid-palate, and big finish. It's an incredible wine that's guaranteed to raise your heart rate (it did for me anyway). 99 points" Jebdunnuck.com

Tasting Notes"The 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Réservée is racy and intense, with saturated cassis, plum and anise notes and a lush yet racy finish. I don't see the alcohol sticking out—it's in line with the vintage profile for me, and a terrific wine." James Molesworth, The Wine Spectator "A wine that's going to rival or surpass the 2015, the 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Réservée shows the quality of this awesome vintage with its deep, powerful, concentrated style. While Laurence says her 2015s remind her of her 2010s, I find a certain 2010-like purity in this wine as well as killer notes of black raspberries, blueberries, garrigue, and pepper. Possessing both power and finesse, full body, sweet tannins, and a great finish, don't miss this beauty. 95-97 points" Jebdunnock.com

Tasting Notes"Similarly colored to the classic cuvée, the 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Quet is 80% Grenache and 20% Mourvèdre. It offers a huge, rich, powerful style that never goes over the top and stays balanced and graceful. Currants, toasted spices, caramelized beef, and exotic notes all flow to a massively textured, powerhouse of a wine that has a stacked mid-palate, a bombastic personality, and a great finish. It needs two to three years of bottle age but is an incredible, heady, powerful wine. 98 points" jebdunnock.com

Tasting Notes"Undoubtedly one of the top vintages of this wine, the 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape La Crau features classy notes of crushed stones and black tea to go along with ripe raspberries and black cherries. Full-bodied yet silky, there's more power and richness in La Crau than in Piedlong, yet there's commensurate elegance and finesse. The wine grows in intensity on the finish without ever seeming heavy or overripe, instead offering hints of tea and licorice. 96 points." Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate, Aug 2018------"Bottled just last week, the 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape offers a classic, gorgeous bouquet of black raspberries, currants, violets, salty minerality, nori (seaweed wrapper) and licorice. Full-bodied, pure, incredibly elegant, with fine tannin, and a huge finish, this is classic Vieux Télégraphe all the way that has the balance to drink now. 97 points." Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com, August 2018------"Impressive, complex array of wild cherries, raspberries, garrigue herbs, lightly spiced pastry and stony, chalky minerals. Super-fresh florals. The palate has superb texture, roundness, completeness, depth and detail. Powerful yet elegant with powdery tannins and essence-like red fruit. Super-fleshy, supple and dense core, then strong at the edges. Layer upon layer peels away on the finish. Resounding finesse and equilibrium, showing the full potential of the plateau La Crau. 98 points." James Suckling, Aug 2018

Tasting Notes"Certified organic. Grenache and Syrah. Their oldest Grenache vines, planted in 1960s on the highest terraces (350 m), limestone soils, vines north and east facing, protected from the hot summer sun by the hill behind them. Traditional fermentation, aged 12 months in 225-litre barrels and 600-litre demi-muids. Aged one year in bottle before release. Black Forest gâteau and some mushroom compost and sous bois on the nose. Carob, damsons, sloe berries all meshed into charcoal, dry tannins. Much more structured and with double-bass depth than the rouge and La Source. The producers (James and Joanna King) describe Szechuan pepper, which is exactly right. Glows in the mouth, rubies and embers. Astounding balance for its alcoholic weight and the freshness runs like a cool, wild-herb-scented breeze right through the wine. 2020 - 2027. 17 points" jancisrobinson.com (TC)

Notes of smoked black fruits, scorched earth, burning embers, and graphite as well as subtle background meatiness flow to a monster of a Hermitage that has full-bodied richness, incredible depth of fruit, and an overwhelming, sexy style that's already impossible to resist. Do your best to hide bottles for 4-5 years, but it's going to evolve for 40 years or more. There are roughly 2,000 cases of this elixir, and every Syrah lover out there should have a bottle (or more) in their cellar. 99 points" Jebdunnuck.com

Tasting Notes"Made using 20% whole clusters, the 2018 Gigondas La Colline is 100% Grenache. It's the lightest in hue of the 2018s at this estate, yet it's also fabulously perfumed and intricate, with tendrils of gentle green herbs entwining hints of citrus, cherries, rose petals and raspberries. Silky-smooth on the palate, it's full-bodied without any excess weight and shows terrific freshness and harmony on the long, elegant finish. Tasted twice, with the wine seeming rather delicate on one occasion and supremely elegant on the other. 93-96 points" Joe Czerwinski, RobertParker.com "Coming from a tiny 1.5-hectare portion of clay and limestone soils and all old vine Grenache, the 2018 Gigondas La Colline is another gorgeous wine from this estate that strikes a balance between richness and elegance. More ruby-hued (these wines are never the deepest hued in Gigondas) and with a killer perfume of kirsch liqueur, framboise, herbes de Provence, chocolate, roasted herbs, and chalky minerality, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, ultra-fine tannins, no hard edges, and a gorgeous, heady finish. This cuvée is almost always the more powerful and concentrated in the lineup, yet in 2018 it shows the more elegant, seamless style of the vintage beautifully. It’s going to benefit from a year or two of bottle age and drink fabulous well for a decade. 97 points." Jeb Dunnuck, jebdunnuck.com

Tasted twice, with consistent notes. 93-96 points" Joe Czerwinski, RobertParker.com "Coming from a sandy parcel just beside the winery and all old-vine Grenache, the 2018 Gigondas Le Lieu Dit makes the most of this vintage and is a classic example of this cooler terroir. Gorgeous notes of kirsch liqueur, rose petals, strawberries, spring flowers, toasted spices, and peppery herbs all give way to a full-bodied, beautifully textured, elegant Gigondas that has a wonderful sense of finesse, classic southern Rhône power and richness, flawless balance, and a great finish. Tasting NotesLeading off the 2018s from bottle, the 2018 Gigondas Réserve is a mix of Grenache, Mourvèdre, and Syrah, and can be thought of as the classic cuvée of the domaine. Jeb Dunnuck, jebdunnuck.com "Smart money will be chasing the 2018 Gigondas, which is nearly as stunning as the special cuvées this year. A blend of 45% Grenache, 30% Syrah, 20% Mourvèdre and 5% Cinsault, it boasts complex aromas of garrigue, cola, blood orange and raspberries. Full-bodied, silky-textured and long on the finish, it should drink well on release and for at least a decade thereafter. 93-95 points" Joe Czerwinski, RobertParker.com

Tasting Notes"From a cooler parcel of pure granite soils, the 2018 Cornas Les Eygats is probably the most classic Cornas in the lineup (although these all have plenty of Cornas character) with its more mineral, iron, and almost bloody style. Loaded with massive amounts of blue and black fruits, violets, and crushed rock nuances, this full-bodied, multi-dimensional, seamless Cornas has polished tannins, flawless balance, and a monster of a finish. This broad, expansive, sexy Cornas should drink well for 20+ years. 98 points." Jeb Dunnuck, jebdunnuck.com

Tasting Notes"Another head-turning Saint Joseph from this team, the blue/black-hued 2018 Saint Joseph Les Royes has tons of obvious minerality as well as notes of smoked black and blue fruits, graphite, liquid violets, and pepper. With flawless balance, silky tannins, and remarkable purity, it's another concentrated, tight, closed wine that's going to benefit from at least 4-5 years of bottle age. 95 points." Tasting Notes"The 2019 Condrieu La Doriane is another tremendous effort from this estate that does everything right. Reminding me slightly of the 2015 with its power and richness, it still has plenty of freshness in its apricot, ripe pineapple, honeyed marmalade, flowers, and cream aromas and flavors. Already complex and full-bodied, with good acidity and a fabulous finish, this is a quintessential expression of this cuvée and it’s hard to imagine how it would be any better. These always have the capacity to age, yet I find them most enjoyable with 6-12 months of bottle age and then over the following 3-5 years. 98 points." Jeb Dunnuck, jebdunnuck.com

Tasting Notes"The 2019 Crozes-Hermitage Domaine De Thalabert showed well, with a floral, pepper, and sappy herb style as well as plenty of darker cherry and currant fruit. With medium to full body, a vibrant, elegant texture, present tannins, and good acidity, this is a classic, balanced Thalabert to hide for 2-4 years and enjoy over the following decade or more. 92-94 points." Tasting Notes"Compared to the La Maison Bleue, the 2019 Hermitage La Chapelle is more closed, tight, and primary, with a focused, full-bodied style that carries impressive black and blue fruits, graphite, bloody meat, and ample minerality. Structured and tannic, yet wonderfully concentrated and pure, it's not for those seeking instant gratification, but it’s another stunning Hermitage in the making. 96-98+ points." Jeb Dunnuck "Like La Maison Bleue, La Chapelle barely moved an inch over the five days that it sat open (and gradually oxidising) on my tasting bench. This is a monumental wine with the finest Syrah nose I have seen since the ethereal and intriguing beauty of the remarkable 2016 vintage and also the monolithic stance of the legendary 1990. However, this is not to say that this vintage can be directly compared to either year. There is a latent power about this wine that is as elusive as it is impressive. This solaire vintage has certainly given La Chapelle a sense of foreboding power and yet there is so much grace here, too. You could be sniffing a handful of granite and gravel, a bouquet of freshly picked herbs, a mortar of freshly ground pepper or a punnet of juicy black fruit and yet there is so much more to discover here. What I find so remarkable about this wine is that it does not show any trace of over-ripeness nor does it have any unwanted oiliness or excessive alcohol. In spite of its richness and depth, this is a pristinely refreshing wine with crunch and crackle of filigree tannin which enlivens every sip. In this regard, it is a far less obvious superstar than the preening 1990 and it is a more erudite and statuesque model than the esoteric 2016. In short, this is one of only a handful of vintages of La Chapelle to which I have awarded a perfect score and who is to say that this will not happen again before too long? The care and attention in this entire portfolio of wines are evident and the hard work and holistic approach are not only paying off in the vineyards but also in the glass, too, and this makes 2019 another phenomenally successful vintage for Jaboulet. 20++ pts." Tasting NotesDark and opaque core but with bright ruby rim. Explosive aromas of black fruits of every description on the nose...blackberry, black cherry and brambles show themselves in layer after layer. There also savoury notes of olive and some spices. Despite the intensity it is fresh on the nose and palate, with a wonderful silky texture to it. RKL

Tasting Notes"Moving to the Chateauneuf du Pape releases and a blend of 70% Grenache and 30% Mourvèdre, the classic 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape is a winner that’s well worth a case purchase, and it offers a ripe, powerful style that stays perfectly balanced and even elegant. Lots of black raspberries, toasted spices, dried garrigue, lavender, and licorice notes all emerge from the glass and this Provençal, full-bodied barrel sample will offer pleasure right out of the gate yet evolve for 15 years or more. 92-94 points." Tasting Notes"Looking at the flagship 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape from this benchmark estate, it reveals a denser ruby/purple color as well as stunning notes of smoked red and black fruits, crushed rocks, peppery garrigue, and truffly earth. Hitting the palate with full-bodied richness, it stays tight and compact on the palate, with terrific mid-palate depth, a focused, structured mouthfeel, and one great finish. This is a brilliant Châteauneuf du Pape from the Brunier family that’s going to benefit from upwards of 5-7 years of bottle age and have 30+ years of overall longevity. 96-98 points." Tasting Notes"Highly perfumed aromas of fresh cherry and dark berries, candied flowers, exotic spices and incense. Juicy and seamless in texture, offering bitter cherry, black raspberry and spicecake flavors that show fine definition and become sweeter as the wine opens up. Finishes on a resonating floral note, displaying formidable tenacity, intertwined tannins and strongly persistent spiciness. This might turn out to be the best version of this bottling I have ever experienced. 93-95 points." Josh Raynolds, Vinous.com

Tasting Notes"A complex bouquet evokes ripe blackberry, cherry compote, licorice and violet, energized by a spicy cracked pepper nuance. Broad and fleshy in the mouth, offering densely packed, smoke-tinged black/blue fruit, exotic spice and floral pastille flavors that pick up a minerally nuance as the wine opens up. Shows superb delineation and spicy lift on a long, silky finish framed by steadily building tannins. There were five demi-muids of this wine in 2019, all of them new. 94-96 points." Josh Raynolds, Vinous.com "Glass-staining purple colour. Incredibly powerful with Glass-staining purple colour. Incredibly powerful with searching perfume, leaf tea and glove leather behind the intense black fruits. Very fine and deep, perhaps just a touch too high in alcohol, a little overextracted. Phenomenal concentration and length however. A growling, brooding power, this could only be Hermitage. From vines of nearly 50 years of age grown organically on lieux-dits Beaumes and Péléat, matured in demi-muids with malolactic fermentation in barrel. Drinking Window 2027 - 2043. 96 points."
