Tasting Notes"One of the gems in the vintage is the 2013 Hermitage Domaine des Tourettes, which comes from both the Bessards and Grandes Vignes lieux-dits on Hermitage Hill. Completely destemmed, then vinified in stainless steel and concrete tanks, the wine is aged 18 months in 30% new French oak; it offers terrific notes of dark fruits, graphite and ample minerality in a full-bodied, layered, ripe profile. It's more approachable than the Les Bessards, yet will still have three decades of longevity. 2015-2045. 94 points" Jeb Dunnock, RobertParker.com

Tasting Notes"Closed, tight and backwards, the 2013 Hermitage les Bessards is a big, full-bodied, burly wine that offers first rate purity in its black raspberry, ozone, liquid rock, and creosote-like bouquet. It has plenty of material and density, but will need 7-8 years of bottle age to become approachable. As normal, it comes all from the "Bas de Coteau" portion of the Bessards lieu-dit, was completely destemmed and saw 18 months in 30% new French oak. 2022-2045. 94+ points" Jeb Dunnock, RobertParker.com

Tasting Notes"A blend of Syrah grapes from several lieux-dits, including Les Bessards, the 2015 Hermitage Domaine des Tourettes is aged in new and second use barrels. It's a dark, concentrated wine, meaty, rich and tannic but with a bright beam of cassis fruit that lifts it and gives it great definition and shape on the palate. Give this medium to full-bodied wine at least 5 years in the cellar and drink it over the next 15. 2022-2037. 94 points" Joe Czerwinski, RobertParker.com

Tasting Notes"Like the base cuvée, yet even richer, more powerful, and decadent, the 2015 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Quet is a blend of 80% Grenache and 20% Mourvèdre that was raised in very old barrels and oak tanks. Full-bodied, ripe, sexy and about as hedonistic as it gets in 2015, this beauty has tons of sweet tannin, a huge mid-palate, and big finish. It's an incredible wine that's guaranteed to raise your heart rate (it did for me anyway). 99 points" Jebdunnuck.com

Tasting Notes"The flagship wine, the 2015 Chateauneuf du Pape...features delicate floral scents and ample cherry and licorice aromas. Somehow, it manages to be full-bodied and almost creamy in texture but without much weight, then it ends powerfully, with a flourish of rich Mexican chocolate on the long, silky finish. It should drink well for up to 20 years. 2017-2035. 94 points." (JC) The Wine Advocate, Oct 2017------"A wine with playful, attractive character. An array of red, blue and purple fruits. Gently spicy, chalky and fragrant, it has a very supple, fleshy and layered palate with a web of fine, smooth and supple tannins. Extremely elegant and composed. A long draw on the finish. Great depth and drive. This will live super long. Try after 2020. 96 points." (JS) Jamessuckling.com, Jan 2018

Tasting Notes"Certified organic. Grenache (oldest vines, terraces at 350 m), Syrah, Roussanne. On limestone and facing north and east. Traditional fermentation, aged 12–18 months in 600-litre barrels. Bottle-aged for a further two years before release. Pure, intense cherries with a dusting of cocoa powder and sumac and warm middle-eastern spices. Tannins like hand-tooled iron, weighty, compact, broad and powerful but with flow and curve and beauty. Despite the 15% alcohol and those tannins, the wine has an innate gentleness. The fruit is so pure, so silver-spun with acidity, so cupped around the tannins and the heat, that it carries itself with an exquisite balance and there isn't a notch of heat until the very, very end. In fact there is mouth-watering freshness. A pot-pourri of dried florals and spices on the end, lifting it through and up and into a long, soaring end. I'd struggle to not drink this now! (TC)". 17.5 points, Jancisrobinson.com Feb 2020

Tasting Notes"The 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Réservée is racy and intense, with saturated cassis, plum and anise notes and a lush yet racy finish. I don't see the alcohol sticking out—it's in line with the vintage profile for me, and a terrific wine." James Molesworth, The Wine Spectator "A wine that's going to rival or surpass the 2015, the 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Réservée shows the quality of this awesome vintage with its deep, powerful, concentrated style. While Laurence says her 2015s remind her of her 2010s, I find a certain 2010-like purity in this wine as well as killer notes of black raspberries, blueberries, garrigue, and pepper. Possessing both power and finesse, full body, sweet tannins, and a great finish, don't miss this beauty. 95-97 points" Jebdunnock.com

Tasting Notes"Undoubtedly one of the top vintages of this wine, the 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape La Crau features classy notes of crushed stones and black tea to go along with ripe raspberries and black cherries. Full-bodied yet silky, there's more power and richness in La Crau than in Piedlong, yet there's commensurate elegance and finesse. The wine grows in intensity on the finish without ever seeming heavy or overripe, instead offering hints of tea and licorice. 96 points." Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate, Aug 2018------"Bottled just last week, the 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape offers a classic, gorgeous bouquet of black raspberries, currants, violets, salty minerality, nori (seaweed wrapper) and licorice. Full-bodied, pure, incredibly elegant, with fine tannin, and a huge finish, this is classic Vieux Télégraphe all the way that has the balance to drink now. 97 points." Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com, August 2018------"Impressive, complex array of wild cherries, raspberries, garrigue herbs, lightly spiced pastry and stony, chalky minerals. Super-fresh florals. The palate has superb texture, roundness, completeness, depth and detail. Powerful yet elegant with powdery tannins and essence-like red fruit. Super-fleshy, supple and dense core, then strong at the edges. Layer upon layer peels away on the finish. Resounding finesse and equilibrium, showing the full potential of the plateau La Crau. 98 points." James Suckling, Aug 2018

Tasting Notes"...a ripe, sexy wine I'd be happy to drink. Black raspberries, pepper, new leather, camphor, and garrigue notes all emerge from this medium to full-bodied, ultra-fine, seamless 2018 that has plenty of fruit and a great finish. Enjoy bottles over the coming 4-6 years. 92 points." Jebdunnock.com------"Unfortunately, yields are down 50%, but the 2018 Côtes Du Rhône Villages Plan De Dieu will certainly be an outstanding wine. Based on 70% Grenache and 30% Mourvèdre from the Plan De Dieu appellation, which is located on the pebbly soils spanning the valley floor between Cairanne and Vacqueyras, it was completely destemmed and is still aging mostly in neutral barrels, with 30% being new. Terrific Grenache-driven notes of strawberries, black raspberries, garrigue, and crushed flowers all emerge from this more medium to full-bodied, seamless, incredibly elegant 2018. The vintage’s plushness (yet freshness) is front and center, it has fine tannins, and it’s going to put a smile on your face right out of the gate. 91-93 points." Jebdunnock.com

Tasting Notes“Assembled from 14 different plots (each vinified and aged separately for the first year), the 2019 Gigondas boasts lovely aromas of garrigue, spice, orange zest, liquorice, black cherries and raspberries....full-bodied, rich and velvety, with a long, softly dusty finish. It lacks the easy approachability of the 2018 but is more concentrated and should age particularly well. 93-95 points.” Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate, Mar 2021------“A full-bodied, harmonious blend, not quite as aggressively concentrated as his single-vineyard wines this year. Very tannic still, and well balanced despite its enormous size. Long finish, saturated with thick, fine tannins. The oak is quite prominent for now, but there's enough fruit to match it. Will be good when it's ready....95 points.” Matt Walls, Decanter.com, 7th December 2020

Tasting NotesLeaps out of the glass with vibrant, crushed rock mineral aromas and fresh pear fruit. The acidity on the palate is not high but the overall impression is of freshness, balanced by a slightly oily texture which lends weight. RKL------"A beautifully fresh and balanced Saint-Péray, rich and generous but with a good freshening acid bite. There's a pleasing support of grilled nut oak in the background bringing a bit of complexity and length, it works well. A very classic, unexaggerated and drinkable depiction of the terroir. Drinking Window 2020 - 2022. 92 points." Matt Walls, Decanter------"70% Roussanne, 30% Marsanne. Winemaker Laure Colombo (daughter of Jean-Luc). Fermented in 228- and 400-litre oak. Young vines. After a run of white burgundies, this smells so exotic and rich: apricot, orange, even though it is not a sweet wine. Smells as if there was some botrytis but apparently not – just very ripe. Powerful, intense exotic and stone fruits, full-bodied and complete even though the acidity is moderate. A lovely wine. Much richer than a stereotypical St-Péray. Lots of spice on the finish. Hitting the palate with full-bodied richness, it stays tight and compact on the palate, with terrific mid-palate depth, a focused, structured mouthfeel, and one great finish. This is a brilliant Châteauneuf du Pape from the Brunier family that’s going to benefit from upwards of 5-7 years of bottle age and have 30+ years of overall longevity. 96-98 points." Tasting Notes"From an ancient, 90-year-old 4ha terraced vineyard planted on red clay and ferruginous sand soil covered by large galettes - typical round pebbles of the region. This vineyard produces some of the finest Châteauneuf-du-Pape wines." Chapoutier-----There's an appealing high-toned spice over the very ripe blackberry fruit here, like star anise. Very rounded and generous, but with some good intensity and freshness at its core. Concentrated and ripe but with good acidity. The alcohol is warming on the finish, but it's not overly unbalanced. A fruity and immediate style of Barbe Rac. Drinking Window 2022 - 2029. 93 points." Matt Walls, Decanter, June 2021

Tasting Notes"From a plot near town of Bedarrides, from vineyard covered in large round pebbles over sandy red clay. Planted on slightly higher altitude than Barbe Rac, wine from this plot is known for its great structure and intensity." Chapoutier------"Good depth of colour. Black cherries and liquorice on the nose, good sense of ripeness. Very rounded, fruity, generous. Very ripe, with a touch of prune to the fruit. Good acidity, but it doesn't totally disguise the very high alcohol, which is warming on the finish. Ripe, long, juicy - I would drink young. Soft, with juicy tannins. Drinking Window 2022 - 2027. 91 points." Matt Walls, Decanter, June 2021

Tasting Notes"1.5ha single vineyard Syrah from the ‘roasted vineyards’ of Côte Rôtie planted on schist and mica soils. This wine’s spicy and floral notes result in a more direct expression of this hillside’s composition." Chapoutier------"A little spicier and earthier than La Mordorée this year, more savoury. Medium-bodied, precise and dry - packed full of dense, ripe tannins. Very ripe, with a good sense of harmony and integration. Excellent balance. Long finish. Ripe and seductive, without overt oak influence. The alcohol is high but doesn't feel unbalanced thanks to the concentration of fruit. Drinking Window 2028 - 2038. 94 points." Tasting Notes"This 3.5ha ‘Les Murets’ vineyard lies in one of the world-famous appellations. Marsanne from 60-70-year-old vines planted on very old fluvioglacial alluvial soils creates a generous, multifaceted beauty here. Outstanding wine with a great potential for ageing. Chapoutier------"The nose is quite savoury, almond is the presiding aroma, with apple and quince in the background. It has the roundness of De l'Orée but without excessive opulence - this vintage is a little straighter than some. Well balanced, with a more clearly visible mineral line than a classic vintage of this cuvée, which can be veiled by intense richness when young. Fresh, balanced, more thirst-quenching than a typical De l'Orée, its propensity to opulence slightly tempered. I think this works particularly well this year. Drinking Window 2023 - 2045. 98 points." Tasting Notes‘Le Méal’ is a 2ha parcel of old Marsanne vines – some more than 50-year-old, with very low yields. Planted on fluvioglacial alluvial deposit soil with large pebbles that help to warm the soil and retain heat, contributing to the good ripening of the grapes." Chapoutier------"Almond, quince and a touch of rhubarb at this early stage; you sense the ripeness, but it's not exotically fruity in 2020. The silkiness and glycerol on the palate are quite present, this sample shows plentiful oak, lending matchstick and cashew to the finish. An elegant vintage of Le Méal. Well balanced, far from massive. Not as powerful or concentrated as the past few vintages, this will drink well young, and age into the medium term. Not a hugely-long lived Méal I suspect, but a delightful one nonetheless. There is generous alcohol, but it’s not unbalanced. Drinking Window 2023 - 2040. 94 points." Matt Walls, Decanter, June 2021

Tasting Notes"A wine that doesn’t need an introduction – now a world-famous top wine from Michel’s 4ha ‘Les Bessards’ vineyard of 65-year-old Syrah, at the top of the Hermitage hill. Le Pavillon produces wines that are tarry and smoky with notes of raspberry, blackberry, walnut and liquorice on a complex and powerful palate that is at the same time velvety and balanced, with long, lingering notes of liquorice, tobacco and cocoa." Chapoutier------"Has that tell-tale touch of soy to the plum and blackcurrant fruit so reminiscent of this cuvée. Very fluid and juicy on the palate, this has great intensity and salinity without feeling heavy or overripe. Plenty of sweet, ripe tannins and balanced acidity. Only medium-bodied, there's a touch of pepperiness on the finish. Great freshness and balance. Perfect balance and so harmonious. Sometimes a wine seems a bit too easy, a bit too effortless, and it can lull you into a sense that it lacks seriousness. This wine tries to do that. But I'm not inclined to underestimate it. Drinking Window 2030 - 2052. 99 points." Matt Walls, Decanter, June 2021

There's an inner sweetness to the fruit, the alcohol is raised, adding a little more sweetness. Generous roundness, a very accessible and juicy style of Hermitage. Great tannic ripeness and generous in load, but feels a little bit too ripe and easy to promise great future complexity. Pleasure though? Undoubtedly. Drinking Window 2028 - 2042. 94 points." Tasting Notes"One of the top wines from Saint-Joseph, Le Clos is made from a 0.98ha Syrah vineyard planted on coarse black mica granite. This ancient soil creates wine full of dark fruits, beautiful minerality, fine, silky tannins and notes of graphite on a long, lingering finish." Chapoutier------"Dense black fruit overlaid with violets - very much in the Mauves style of Saint-Joseph. Peppery and spicy. Full-bodied without heaviness, this feels dense but not overly thick. Tannins are chalky but melting, like 100% pure cocoa. The oak is a little more pronounced than with Les Granits, but it's well integrated. Lifted finish. There's intense concentration and deep, dark tannins, but it's all very well balanced. May prove to be the vintage yet of Le Clos. Drinking Window 2027 - 2035. 95 points." Tasting Notes"100% Marsanne from a 2ha vineyard planted on very steep, poor, stony granitic soil that gives this wine its mineral notes with aniseed and fennel overtones, with a wonderful bitterness in its youth, transforming into waxy, honeyed tones as it matures. Harmonious and well-balanced, from the northernmost appellation of the Rhône." Chapoutier------"A relatively brisk and fresh style of Les Granits this year, well balanced, with an upright mineral spine. The acidity is spot-on, giving the wine edge and length. Oak is well judged, and doesn't occlude the fruit. A little less fat and ripeness than some recent years, but has a good sense of intensity if not generosity - you really feel the granite in the granular, slightly serrated mouthfeel. A return to a more classic, measured style this year. 94 points." Matt Walls, Decanter, June 2021

Tasting Notes"This 2.5ha Syrah vineyard is planted on poor, granitic soil in the heart of Saint-Joseph appellation. The harshness of the soil makes vines work extra hard, delivering long lived, structured wines." Chapoutier------"Touch of fresh peat and seaweed on the nose at this early stage. Lovely weight and freshness on the palate, very clear and detailed. Tannins are measured, the wine has a crispness and even a touch of black pepper. Earthy, spicy style, not overly ripe or concentrated - you see the structure with clarity. Will drink well young, and offer a lot of pleasure, showing terroir and complexity without great concentration or length. Great balance and freshness however. Drinking Window 2023 - 2030. 94 points." Tasting Notes"100% Viognier. Aged nine months in 100% new oak. Pure and refined with stone-fruit and toasty notes, the oak, though, well integrated. Reserved on the palate but fine, round and persistent. Slight glow of alcohol but plenty in reserve. Drink 2023-2030. 16.5 points" jancisrobinson.com (JL)------"While the 2020 Condrieu la Doriane matured entirely in new oak, there's just a hint of toast on the nose. The rest of the bouquet features a kaleidoscopic swirl of floral and spice notes with melon and white peach. Medium to full-bodied, it's exquisitely expansive and silky in texture, yet it remains refreshing on the lengthy, mouthwatering finish. Drink 2021 - 2027. 93 points" Joe Czerwinski, RobertParker.com------"hat a fascinatingly smoky and flinty nose this Condrieu has! I love the touches of vanilla bean, mandarin orange peel and jasmine that emerge as you swirl the glass. It masters a remarkable balance on the expansive and subtle palate, a hint of bitterness helping to balance the softness and creaminess of the long finish. Drink or hold. 95 points" jamessuckling.com------"Just about pure perfection and one of the finest Condrieu to pass my lips, the 2020 Condrieu La Doriane offers an insane bouquet of grilled pineapple, charcoal, crushed stone, acacia flowers, and white peach. It picks up an incredibly sense of salinity on the palate and is full-bodied, has blockbuster concentration, remarkable purity and focus, and a great finish. Tasting Notes"The 2020 Crozes Hermitage Domaine de Thalabert boasts effusive aromas of cracked pepper, black olives, cherries and blueberries. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers some soft dusty tannins and decent length, but it's surprisingly lacking in concentration. 89-91 points" Joe Czerwinski, RobertParker.com------“Yet another beautiful 2020, Thalabert is deep, dark and brooding in this vintage, and it has an almost Italianate liquorice and black-fruited theme underpinning its Syrah characters. This makes it an indulgent treat, and the palate is more velvety and forward than any young Thalabert I have tasted. In addition, it has the stuffing to age well, too. What more could you ask for? (Drink 2023 – 2033)“ 18+ points" Matthew Jukes------"Pure and lifted with the aroma of fresh, berry fruit. Less dense than imagined but pure, fresh and juicy with extremely fine-grained tannins. Tasting Notes"Subdued but pure and profound. Tightly wound on the palate, the tannins powerful but refined, the fruit deep but underplayed. A saline edge that runs from start to finish adding length at the end. Needs to unfurl and expand but clearly has potential. 17.5 points" jancisrobinson.com (JH)------"After the past several vintages, the 2020 Hermitage La Chapelle will need to add significant richness and concentration if it is to compete at that level. That said, it is still an excellent wine, with classic aromas of crushed stone, cassis, espresso and black olives. It's full-bodied, fine and silky, giving an impression of great elegance on the lingering finish. 93-95 points" Joe Czerwinski, RobertParker.com------“While there are faint roasted coffee bean notes here, which hint at the warm summer, and exotic rose and musk characters that only ever emerge in concentrated vintages, this is a masterclass in restraint and self-awareness. While this 2020 perhaps lacks the overall gravitas and high-rise tannins of the majestic 2019 vintage, this is a very seductive La Chapelle and one that will appeal to lovers of textural, velvety Syrahs. I am certain that everyone who drinks this wine will fall for its charms. (Drink 2025 – 2040)” 19+ points" Matthew Jukes

Tasting NotesFrom 1.5 ha of south-facing terraced vines on Coteau de Semons, in Tupin-Semons commune. 'Bassenon' is named after the stream at the foot of the hill. Granite and gneiss soils, planted to 90% syrah, 10% viognier. The grapes are picked by hand, then sorted, crushed and partially destemmed in the cellar. Open, temperature-controlled vatting for about 3 weeks, with regular cap-punching and pumping-over. Malolactic-fermented in barriques with native yeasts, before maturation for 18 months in barriques. A step-up in finesse from the St.-Joseph's, but still with wonderfully ripe and intense fruit concentration. An elegant, floral note of violets on the nose, presumably from the Viognier, which also adds a peach character to the palate, lifting the red and black fruits enormously. Very refined tannins, masses of energy. Could be enjoyed on landing and for over the next decade. A very accessible, modern and technically correct interpretation of Côte-Rôtie which should bring this appellation lots of new followers. RKL
