Tasting NotesJust a few steps from the eponymous windmill of Moulin-à-Vent, and separated from the la Roche vineyard by a small road, the Clos du Grand Carquelin faces more towards the south and the soil is made of granitic sands and is deeper (60m) and more clayish. Bright acidity frames the tannins and emphases the crushed rock character on the palate, with crunchy red fruit and nascent complexity evident in the very long finish. RKL |

Tasting Notes“Bright crimson. Racy and surprisingly filigree. Lovely light stoniness on the extremely persistent, still-quite-dry end. Great price in view of the reputation of this grower. 17 points." Jancisrobinson.com "The 2024 Morgon Côte du Py has a vivid, stony bouquet with redcurrant and raspberry fruit unfolding in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-boned tannins and a touch more sour cherry in the mix, especially on the piquant finish. Again, this is very promising and might become the edgiest of Burgaud's 2024s. 90-92 points." Neal Martin, Vinous, Feb '25 |
