The business was established by Richard Kihl in the late 1960s. Richard Kihl Ltd was incorporated as a company in 1969. The company was one of the first fine wine brokers, trading from premises in Regents Park Road in North London, where for a time, it also dealt in wine antiques and accessories.
In 1994 Richard moved the business to Aldeburgh in Suffolk, where we continue to trade to this day. In 2001 the ownership changed when Richard retired and Antony Irvine purchased the company. You can read more about how the business began here:
Today, the majority of our business is selling to the UK and international fine wine trade. We also have many long-standing private customers, both in the UK and overseas, who buy from us en primeur and cellar their wines with us. In addition, we have a small retail fine wine shop in Aldeburgh, Suffolk.
Whilst we hold some wine in our duty-paid cellars at our Aldeburgh shop, the vast majority of our stocks are held under bond at London City Bond at Tilbury, on the outskirts of London.
