We have managed to source a special parcel of Domaine Jamet Côte Rôtie from three superb vintages to offer to you: 2020, '21 & '22.  Jamet is a benchmark for the appellation and for the wider Northern Rhône, established in the '70s by Joseph Jamet.

For a time after Joseph's death, his sons Jean-Paul and Jean-Luc made wine at the domaine together, but in 2013, in the wine world's equivalent of William and Harry, there was a parting of the ways.  Jean-Luc (the younger brother) struck out on his own, leaving the larger portion of the vineyard holdings to Jean-Paul.

Jean-Paul has continued in the traditional style that made Jamet famous, blending wines from the domaine's various parcels, to create a cuvée that expresses the quintessence of Côte-Rôtie, rather than the individual terroirs within it.  The concept is so old-fashioned as to be cutting edge, and Jean-Paul is hugely respected in the winemaking world for his skill, not only in winemaking but in the blending, reaching levels of elegance that few winemakers can match.

The 2020 and '22 may stand out for their scores, but we think the 2021 will be a sleeper success.  As RobertParker.com's Rhône specialist Joe Czerwinski writes:

"To generalize and predict what wizardry Jean-Paul Jamet will conjure out of bottle is a bit of a fool's errand..."!

Like some other winemaking geniuses - Francois Mitjavile springs to mind - Jamet's wines defy the scoring systems with their elegance and complexity.  Nicolas Greinacher for Vinous says the 2021 "dazzles", and we are sure it has a bright future ahead of it.

Stocks of all three vintages are very limited, so please order today and don't miss out on your case!

Offered in bond, available for delivery in December 2025.

Tasting Notes"I have scribbles on seven different components of the 2020 Cote Rotie in my notebook, and that is just a fraction of what lies resting in the deep Jamet cellar. To generalize and predict what wizardry Jean-Paul Jamet will conjure out of bottle is a bit of a fool's errand, but overall, I found the 2020 samples to show ripe, dark-fruit flavors balanced by graceful aromatics. Generally, the wines are medium to full-bodied, with supple, silky tannins and good freshness. 93-95 points" Joe Czerwinski, RobertParker.com------"Still resting in barrels, the 2020 Côte Rôtie is a ripe, sexy beast of a Côte Rôtie, and Jean-Paul commented that he preferred the more classic style of the 2019. Don't let that scare you away, as this is a thrilling Côte Rôtie in the making. All of the samples exhibited a healthy purple color, intense aromatics, remarkable purity, and a more medium to full-bodied profile. This ripe, powerful vintage is going to require at least 7-8 years to shed some baby fat (and you'll be excused for drinking a bottle in its youth) but should still evolve for 20+ years. I suspect the 2019 might be longer lived due to its more structured profile, but it's going to be a treat following these vintages over the coming decades. 95-97 points" Jebdunnuck.com------"Opaque ruby. Vibrant blackberry, cherry, incense, Moroccan spice, potpourri and smoky mineral qualities on the expansive, seductively perfumed nose. Offers vibrant black and blue fruit, spice-cake, olive and floral pastille flavors that show bright detail and energetic mineral lift. The floral and spice notes recur strongly on the youthfully gripping finish, which features mounting tannins and lingering smokiness. 97 points" Josh Raynolds, Vinous.com

Tasting Notes"Bottled in September, the 2021 Côte Rôtie reveals a healthy ruby hue to go with a beautiful and classic Jamet nose of ripe red and black fruits, peppery herbs, menthol, spring flowers, and subtle meaty nuances. Fermented with 90% whole clusters, it's medium-bodied, has a focused, elegant, seamless texture, and outstanding length. This delicate, seamless, perfumed Jamet will benefit from 2-3 years of bottle age and evolve gracefully over the following 10-15 years. 92 points" Jebdunnuck.com------“The 2021 Côte-Rôtie fermented with roughly 90% whole-clusters. Fragrant raspberry jam, crushed violets, cedar and licorice rise up from the glass. Spicy undertones and stemmy gradations add more layers. Framed by velvety tannins and balanced by bright acidity, this is a finessed Jamet with plenty of energy. Albeit not as concentrated and deep as the 2020 or potentially the 2022, the elegant 2021 dazzles regardless. 93 points" Nicolas Greinacher, Vinous.com

Tasting Notes"Vinified with 100% whole bunches, the 2022 Cote Rotie from Jean-Paul & Corinne Jamet reveals a dense, deep and complex bouquet of violets, mulberries, flowers, ripe dark wild berries and licorice, all accented by delicate spicy undertones. Medium to full-bodied, dense and structured, it's tense, with a fleshy core of fruit for a Côte Rôtie and a long, spicy and fruity finish. This vintage stands out with its vibrant, succulent acidity, lending an ethereal quality to the wine and making it less austere than previous vintages. 94 points" Yohan Castaing, RobertParker.com------"“The 2022 Côte-Rôtie is alluring and complex, with ripe black fruit, crushed violet, iodine, graphite and cedar notes alongside stemmy, spicy hints. Medium-bodied yet markedly concentrated, the 2022 shines with flawless elegance and an elongated, expansive finish. Sleek tannins underpin this expressive Côte-Rôtie. This is a fantastic Jamet not to be missed by anyone fortunate enough to latch into a bottle. 95 points" Nicolas Greinacher, Vinous.com------"Just bottled, the 2022 Côte Rôtie offers a beautifully classic Jamet perfume of red and black fruits, crushed stone, and sappy flowers. It's medium to full-bodied on the palate and has a broad, layered mouthfeel, building tannins, and a great finish. It needs 7-8 years of bottle age and will see its 30th birthday in fine form. Drink 2031-2052. 95+ points" Jebdunnuck.com
