Previous vintages of Montlandrie have sometimes been dark and brooding, but this struck a different chord ("not a monster", we wrote in our notes). Jane Anson awards 93 points and finds a classy texture of "rough linen and wet stone", whilst Lisa Perotti-Brown MW focuses on the nose, which "bursts from the glass with vibrant notes of crushed blackberries, fresh, juicy black plums and mulberries, plus hints of bay leaves, cardamom, ground black pepper and black truffles. (93-94 points)."

Château Montlandrie, Castillon, Cotes de Bordeaux
Château Montlandrie is an estate in Castillon, Cotes de Bordeaux which was bought in 2009 by the late Denis Durantou, owner of L'Eglise Clinet in Pomerol. The 12-hectare vineyard has a distinctive ancient stone tower at its centre.
Durantou passed away in 2020 and the wines are now made by his daughters. The terroir consists of clay and limestone soils. The vineyard is divided into 15 small parcels and the wines are vinified in 15 correspondingly small vats, an illustration of the level of care taken.
