2021 Château Cantenac Brown En Primeur

2021 Brane Cantenac (£564 per dozen) delivers the elegantly aromatic nose and silky, aristocratic structure which are some of the defining characteristics of classic Margaux.

Brane Cantenac especially has been consistent in over-delivering in recent years, steadily closing the gap with illustrious names like Palmer.  Jeb Dunnuck describes the 2021 as "a quintessential Margaux with its complexity and nuance".

Bordeaux En Primeur, landing in spring 2024.

Producer Profile

Château Cantenac Brown, Margaux

Château Cantenac Brown is a Troisième Cru Classé in the commune of Margaux.  The name comes from Scottish painter John Lewis Brown, who purchased the estate in the early 1800s.  He commissioned the tudor-style château, the only one of its kind in Bordeaux.  In recent times, the estate has been owned by Axa Millesimes, the Halabi family and, since 2019, by agronomistTristan Le Lous.  The estate is managed by Jose Sanfins, who has worked here since 1989.

The vineyard covers 60 hectares and is composed of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc. The average age of the vines is 35 years old.
