Tasting NotesA revelation to taste! The grapes are foot trodden and fermented in small oak barrels on the lees, for a minimum of 16 months. Astheimer comes from young vines from the Astheimer Karthauser 'grand cru', on limestone, giving this an intensely mineral character with crystalline fruits, plus some brioche and hazelnut and a saline finish. 12.5% abv. Tasting NotesEven though this is 'only' an Estate wine, the yields for this Pinot Noir are low, at 45hl/ha, a similar level to many village wines in Burgundy. Grippier and more driven than the Hermannshöhle; with verve and vitality.
