2025 Château Lacoste Provence Rosé
Provence rosé is well-established these days as a wine to enjoy throughout the year, so we were delighted to taste a superb new example from a top estate, near Aix-en-Provence. 2025 Chateau La Coste Provence Rosé is available from just £195 per dozen in bond with our opening offer.
La Coste is the project of Paddy McKillen, the former owner of London hotels including Claridges, The Connaught and The Savoy. He has turned Lacoste into a luxurious destination, with an extensive modern art collection and villa. The part that interests us in the wine, which is made biodynamically, and which competes with the best we have tasted from this region.
McKillen bought the estate in 2002 and set about conveting it to organic viticulture, and then in 2022, gaining biodynamic certification. With 200 hectares, this is one of the largest biodynamic estates in France. He also constructed a new avant-garde, architect-designed winery.
Tasting the estate rosé for the first time, we were struck by the density and texture on the palate. The 2025 offers all the fresh melon, strawberry, peach and cucumber aromas and flavours we love in this style, but with more concentration, whilst remaining balanced and elegant.
Alongside the estate wine, we also offer La Coste's Grand Vin, from selected plots of vines on the estate, offering an even greater level of minerality and tension on the palate. This concentration and generosity on the palate is where both wines from La Coste distinguish themselves from more 'everyday' Provence rosés, making them particularly suitable for pairing with food and enjoyment through the cooler months, from autumn to spring.
