Château L'Evangile dates back to the 18th century, but has been owned by the Rothschilds since 1990.  Lying in between Petrus and Cheval Blanc, Evangile has nevertheless remained relatively below the radar in this country.  The 22 hectares of vineyards lie on a band of gravel that runs through the classic Pomerol clay.  L’Évangile is planted mainly with Merlot (79%), with Cabernet Franc (20%) and some Cabernet Sauvignon (1%).
