2025 'Polish Hill' Clare Valley Riesling (98 points)

“Sumptuously complex on the nose already...Already glorious! What a spread of flavours...Fabulous persistence. Hope I live long enough to enjoy this in its full maturity...19 points."  Jancis Robinson

We are delighted to offer an Australian Riesling from one of the most established, famous Clare Valley winemakers: the 2025 'Polish Hill', from Grosset.  Jancis Robinson scores this new vintage one point shy of perfection, and, tasting it this morning, we can see why...brilliant value at just £200 per six in bond.

For the last forty years the Grosset ‘Polish Hill’ and ‘Springvale’ Rieslings have shown a consistent style and quality that have earned Jeffrey Grosset an unrivalled reputation. After decades of experience, Jeffrey’s wines keep getting better.  Halliday's Wine Companion describes him as being ‘synonymous with Riesling [..] they make a statement so impactful that it is hard to think of much else. Painstakingly selected and planted sites, biodynamic farming, mature vines, meticulous fruit selection and winemaking are all instrumental. And, of late, that rigour has collided with some spectacular vintages...Put simply, Grosset is better than ever.”

We found the 2025 to have heady, powerful aromas of wild flowers, citrus, and tropical fruits like guava, whilst being bone dry and laser-focused on the palate, which is intense and long, despite the wine being on 12% abv.  This would be spectacular paired with Asian-influenced foods and fish or shellfish dishes.  Enjoyable now, it will continue to develop for many years.

Offered in bond.  Available for delivery in August 2026.

2025 'Polish Hill' Clare Valley Riesling, Grosset

“Sumptuously complex on the nose already. And much more approachable than many other young Grosset Polish Hill Rieslings. Already glorious! What a spread of flavours. Wild flowers. Fabulous persistence. Hope I live long enough to enjoy this in its full maturity. Dry finish but there is just SO much fruit and enjoyment on the way there. 19 points."  Jancis Robinson

“The 2025 Polish Hill Riesling leads with a surprisingly delicate and floral nose. Usually, of the two wines, the Springvale slightly softer, more open and approachable on release, whereas the Polish Hill is all power and muscle and built for long-term aging. Here, the wine has a powerfully focused acid line, however the fruit is soft and plush—I am inclined to use words such as pretty, delicate and floral. There are notes of white rose, scratched lime zest, mandarin oil, river stone and white spice. The floral aspect is something to behold, however it refrains from dipping into the "rosewater" space. This is a beauty.  96 points."  Erin Larkin (Robert Parker)

“Bright and expressive, with aromas of lemon blossoms, kaffir limes, green apples and crushed slate. The palate is finely etched and vibrant, showing zesty acidity layered with citrus, white peach and mineral flavors. Persistent and tightly wound, with excellent clarity and length. A fine bottling of this famed wine that balances power and restraint. 98 points."  James Suckling
