We are delighted to offer the 2024 vintage wines from Domaine Collet, run by the charming Romain Collet and one of the best sources in the region of classic-style Chablis at affordable prices.
Given the terrible weather in Chablis, which was even worse than on the Côte d'Or and saw even more rain during the summer, the quality of Collet's wines is something to celebrate, with some very promising reviews from Meadows and Morris. Romain has made a range of wines with fresh, pure fruit, minerality and even some tension, with a softness to the fruit that makes the wines very approachable. The premiers crus from this domaine always take a little while to reach their best, and this vintage is no exception, so allow 2-3 years for them to flesh out.
Romain vinifies each wine according to its terroir and, broadly, the wines vinified in 'eggs' or stainless steel ('Montmains' and 'Vaillons') emphasise the linear, mineral style which Chablis is famous for, while those aged in barriques (Montée de Tonnerre, Valmur) have a more Burgundian structure.
Premiers and grands crus Chablis from very good domaines like this one offer amazing value for money when compared with similar crus on the Côte d'Or. With such a tiny harvest, stocks are very limited, so please let us know as soon as possible if you would like to add some to your cellar.

Long, pristine finish. 2026-2029. 16 points" jancisrobinson.com (AWH)------"Smoky aromas of iodine, white orchard fruit, petrol and a hint of zest precede caressing, delicious and acceptably punchy medium weight flavors that also conclude in a youthfully austere and agreeably dry finale would benefit from developing better depth. Similar in colour to the Petit Chablis, with just a touch more intensity on the nose, but a similar style. More grapey on the palate, medium plus energy, with good persistence. Attractive floral perfume, strident acidity on the palate, direct and focused. 2027-2032. 16.5+ points" jancisrobinson.com (AWH)------"Slightly more evident wood is apparent on the air, cool and peppery aromas of citrus, apple and just enough classic Chablis elements to be convincing. The succulent, round and more voluminous middle weight flavors flash a subtle bead of minerality on the clean, dry and lightly austere finale. This also needs better depth so be prepared to allow it at least a few years of cellaring. Drink: 2029+. 89-91 points" Allen Meadows' Burghound------"Just blended yesterday. Part in stainless steel, racked to older barrel in February, and a part in barrel. Mid lemon yellow, the bouquet has been knocked back a bit by the treatment. Softer lemon notes and even a little lactic, possible from the barrel, though older wood was used, but a cut above Montmains in persistence.
