"Year after year Andrea Costanti turns out what are among the very best from Montalcino, and the 2021 is no exception, it’s an absolute stunner with great aging potential.  99 points." Kerin O’Keefe, Nov '25, Kerinokeefe.com

“2021 is a triumph for Montalcino...The 2021s are all about grace, vibrancy and purity. They also exhibit a beautiful sense of place”  Eric Guido, Nov '25, Vinous.com

We are delighted to offer the 2021 Brunello di Montalcino from Conti Costanti.  The 2021 is scored 99 points by Italian wine expert Kerin O'Keefe, making it outstanding value at just £340 per six in bond.  We also have very limited availability of some rather tempting magnums at just £125 each in bond, wonderful to lay down for an occasion.

Conti Costanti is among a handful of top estates in Brunello, known for making wines with the raw power of this region but also with elegant tannins and complex aromas, derived from the elevated position of the vineyards, at around 400m.  The full-bodied power on the palate comes from the rocky, schistous 'galestro' soil, found in the best vineyards in the area.

Andrea Costanti's family has owned this 10-hectare estate for over 200 years, but it was really Andrea's hard work since taking over in 1983 that has made this one of the best estates in Montalcino.

It's no coincidence that our last three release offers for this wine have had amazing scores, as Andrea believes that 2019, '20 and '21 vintages are among the best ever made.  The 2021 vintage began with a wet, mild winter, followed by cold temperatures in early spring. A spring frost in April affected budburst, and below-average temperatures combined with dry conditions persisted through the end of May. Summer brought above-average temperatures and low rainfall, with a few isolated showers at the end of July. Careful soil management helped mitigate water stress in the vineyards, enabling excellent phenolic ripening of healthy, perfectly balanced grapes.

We suggest ordering promptly as we have limited allocation from this vintage and expect to sell out quite quickly.

Offered in bond, expected in the UK by April 2026.

Tasting Notes“Beautiful, lustrous ruby. Noble restraint on the nose and takes its time to open up. Brooding complexity and minerality and only with lots of aeration it reveals layer after layer without showing it all. Taut and embryonic on the palate with a deep layer of finely chiselled, gravelly tannins and supple acidity. Elegant and with fantastic balance but the whole needs time to come together. Patience will pay off. 18 points." Walter Speller, December 2025, JancisRobinson.com------“The 2021 Brunello di Montalcino is darkly inward in its youthful state, brooding and tense with tobacco, minty herbs, cedary spice, plum and nuances of black cherry. Soft textures wash across the energetic palate as mineral-inflected red berry fruits saturate. Structured and incredibly long, the 2021 leaves the cheeks puckering amidst fine-grained tannins and a contrasting accent of sour citrus”. 95 points." Eric Guido, November 2025, Vinous.com------“The compelling Conti Costanti 2021 Brunello captivates with pronounced aromas of fragrant purple flower, eucalyptus. Mediterranean brush and perfumed berry. All about class and extreme finesse, the elegant palate delivers succulent wild raspberry, crushed Marasca cherry, spiced orange zest and star anise set against a backbone of fine-grained tannins. Fresh acidity lends balance and great intensity. Year after year Andrea Costanti turns out what are among the very best from Montalcino, and the 2021 is no exception, it’s an absolute stunner with great aging potential. 99 points."
