The new 2025s from the Mosel’s Joh. Jos. Prüm

Few names are more closely associated with great Mosel Riesling than JJ Prüm. Established in 1911, the estate belongs to a family whose roots in the region stretch back centuries. In the 1840s, Jodocus Prüm built the famous sonnenuhr, or sundial, which gives Wehlener Sonnenuhr its name.

Here, and in neighbouring Graacher Himmelreich, steep slopes of Devonian blue slate underpin wines of extraordinary finesse, complexity, and intensely mineral character.

The 2025 wines are now in bottle, showing the generosity and concentration the promised at harvest time. The growing season moved quickly, with ripeness around two weeks ahead of 2024 by late August, before heavy September rain prompted a rapid harvest across the Mosel.

Where 2024 was a vintage charaterised by elegance, 2025 is more generous and expressive, bringing highly aromatic fruit and concentration together with the precision and mineral freshness that make these wines so compelling.
