Tasting NotesBeautifully fresh nose. Bright fruit, cassis, raspberry, strawberry. Some spice and oak in the background. Surprisingly powerful on the palate after the nose, real depth and concentration, oak and tannins more evident, but still the shape and texture tends towards elegance. Probably nearing peak now, maybe another 1-2 years, then will plateau for another 3-5 years. More grand vin than deuxieme! RKL------"70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc, 5% new oak, pH 3.5. Barrel sample. Deepest cherry red. Nicely stony/dusty dark-red fruit. Juicy raspberry fruit, so lively and fresh. Deliciously approachable and still persistent. Super-fine tannins so it seems to be all fruit. 16.5 points." Jancisrobinson.com (JH)------"...the 2018 Chapelle De Potensac has an already complex nose of red and black currants, green tobacco, cedarwood, and spring flowers. This carries to an endearing, supple, seamless Médoc with light tannins, a rounded, balanced mouthfeel, and a great finish. Want a classic Bordeaux you don't have to wait a decade on? Give this beauty a whirl. 90 points" Jebdunnuck.com

Tasting Notes"There is a luxurious, languorous feel right from the very first nose here, which continues step for step all the way through the palate. It's a highly impressive wine with an amazing texture - something that is starting to mark Smith Haut Lafitte out every year. Notes of dark chocolate, black cherry and liquorice stretch out through the rich palate, displaying tension and texture. 2% Petit Verdot completes the blend. Harvested 18 September to 10 October. 60% new oak. Drinking Window 2027-2042. 98 points" Jane Anson, Decanter Magazine "This is incredibly complex with hazelnut, currant, berry and dried-flower character. The impression of a vat of fermenting cabernet. Full body, round and juicy tannins and a long, soft and silky finish. Shows the essence of the fruit here. Fascinating. Layered and complex. 98-99 points" jamessuckling.com "Composed of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot aging in 60% new barriques, the very deep purple-black colored 2018 Smith Haut Lafitte is a little shy to begin. With coaxing, it very slowly unfurls to reveal a heart-stopping perfume of violets, red roses, kirsch, black cherries and redcurrant jelly, before giving way to a profound core of warm blackcurrants, blackberry preserves, molten licorice and cinnamon stick with nuances of dried mint, orange blossoms (yes!) and cloves. Full-bodied, the fruit does veritable pirouettes on your palate, both elegant and powerful in its expression, coating the mouth with densely packed red and black fruits while revealing tons of mineral, floral and savory sparks, framed by exquisitely fine-grained tannins and bold freshness, finishing very long. 97-99+ points" Lisa Perotti-Brown, Robert.Parker.com "Checking in as 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot brought up in 60% new French oak, the 2018 Château Smith Haut Lafitte reveals a saturated purple color as well as rock star notes of crème de cassis, blueberries, graphite, crushed rocks, and spice. Deep, profoundly concentrated, beautifully seamless and textured on the palate, it reminds me of the 2009 with its opulent, powerful style. It's a brilliant wine from this terrific estate and up with the top wines in the vintage. Hats off to director Fabien Teitgen who continues to make an elegant yet powerful, uncompromising style of wine. 97-100 points" Jebdunnuck.com

Tasting Notes"Vibrant damson in colour. I love the deep creaminess that is evident from the first nose, with hints of cocoa and gunsmoke. There is more clay here than at Canon; about 50% of the vineyard has a clay layer over the limestone whereas at Canon it is closer to 10%, meaning Berliquet is less ethereal, more urgent and powerful, still with precision and feathery chalky tannins. They have restored the underground limestone cellars for barrel ageing. A yield of 45hl/ha. 45% new oak, for what is the 2nd full year of the Canon team working the vineyard. Thomas Duclos consultant. Drinking Window 2026 - 2042. 93 points." Jane Anson, Decanter

Tasting Notes"The 2019 Brillette is crisp and precise on the nose, offering blackberry, raspberry, cedar and light white pepper aromas and nicely integrated oak. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannins and good substance and weight on the finish, which is defined by graphite and tobacco notes. Unapologetically classic in style, this should give 12-15 years of drinking pleasure. 90 points." Neal Martin, Vinous------"From gravely soils in Moulis, the 2019 Brillette hails from an estate that has recently been restructured, with Cabernet Sauvignon repositioned on the most appropriate terroirs. Exhibiting aromas of cassis, wild berries, loamy soil and pencil shavings, it's medium to full-bodied, supple and seamless, with lively acids and powdery tannins. 90 points."
