Tasting NotesBeautifully fresh nose. Bright fruit, cassis, raspberry, strawberry. Some spice and oak in the background. Surprisingly powerful on the palate after the nose, real depth and concentration, oak and tannins more evident, but still the shape and texture tends towards elegance. Probably nearing peak now, maybe another 1-2 years, then will plateau for another 3-5 years. More grand vin than deuxieme! RKL------"70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc, 5% new oak, pH 3.5. Barrel sample. Deepest cherry red. Nicely stony/dusty dark-red fruit. Juicy raspberry fruit, so lively and fresh. Deliciously approachable and still persistent. Super-fine tannins so it seems to be all fruit. 16.5 points." Jancisrobinson.com (JH)------"...the 2018 Chapelle De Potensac has an already complex nose of red and black currants, green tobacco, cedarwood, and spring flowers. This carries to an endearing, supple, seamless Médoc with light tannins, a rounded, balanced mouthfeel, and a great finish. Want a classic Bordeaux you don't have to wait a decade on? Give this beauty a whirl. 90 points" Jebdunnuck.com

Tasting NotesAfter a beautifully pure Merlot nose the palate is structured and ripe but quite austere at the moment. Long on the finish and medium-bodied, this should be an elegant and very fine iteration of this super-value St Emilion. RKL------"Emerging from the talents of Denis Durantou, the 100% Merlot 2018 Saintayme should be snatched up by readers who want a brilliant, delicious Bordeaux to enjoy over the coming decade. Terrific notes of black cherries, kirsch, flowery incense, cedarwood, and tobacco all define the bouquet, and it's medium to full-bodied and beautifully balanced, with silky tannins and a ripe, hedonistic, yet balanced style that's a joy to drink. 94 points" jeb.dunnock.com

Tasting Notes"There is a luxurious, languorous feel right from the very first nose here, which continues step for step all the way through the palate. It's a highly impressive wine with an amazing texture - something that is starting to mark Smith Haut Lafitte out every year. Notes of dark chocolate, black cherry and liquorice stretch out through the rich palate, displaying tension and texture. 2% Petit Verdot completes the blend. Harvested 18 September to 10 October. 60% new oak. Drinking Window 2027-2042. 98 points" Jane Anson, Decanter Magazine "This is incredibly complex with hazelnut, currant, berry and dried-flower character. The impression of a vat of fermenting cabernet. Full body, round and juicy tannins and a long, soft and silky finish. Shows the essence of the fruit here. Fascinating. Layered and complex. 98-99 points" jamessuckling.com "Composed of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot aging in 60% new barriques, the very deep purple-black colored 2018 Smith Haut Lafitte is a little shy to begin. With coaxing, it very slowly unfurls to reveal a heart-stopping perfume of violets, red roses, kirsch, black cherries and redcurrant jelly, before giving way to a profound core of warm blackcurrants, blackberry preserves, molten licorice and cinnamon stick with nuances of dried mint, orange blossoms (yes!) and cloves. Full-bodied, the fruit does veritable pirouettes on your palate, both elegant and powerful in its expression, coating the mouth with densely packed red and black fruits while revealing tons of mineral, floral and savory sparks, framed by exquisitely fine-grained tannins and bold freshness, finishing very long. 97-99+ points" Lisa Perotti-Brown, Robert.Parker.com "Checking in as 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot brought up in 60% new French oak, the 2018 Château Smith Haut Lafitte reveals a saturated purple color as well as rock star notes of crème de cassis, blueberries, graphite, crushed rocks, and spice. Deep, profoundly concentrated, beautifully seamless and textured on the palate, it reminds me of the 2009 with its opulent, powerful style. It's a brilliant wine from this terrific estate and up with the top wines in the vintage. Hats off to director Fabien Teitgen who continues to make an elegant yet powerful, uncompromising style of wine. 97-100 points" Jebdunnuck.com

Tasting Notes"...One can immediate see more intensity and precision on the nose, perfumed blackberry and blueberry fruit with a subtle wet clay, like a pottery classroom, in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, rounded and smooth in texture with a fine line of acidity. Plenty of black fruit here and real volume and length on the finish. This is an excellent Tronquoy-Lalande that might have the misfortune of lying in the shadow of the superlative Montrose. But it is well worth seeking out. 2022-2036. 91-93 points." Neal Martin, Vinous.com, May 2019------"There's great concentration here but it's juicy at the same time, delicious in its liquorice and plummy black fruit notes. There are traces of heat from the higher than usual alcohol levels in the Cabernet Sauvignon (Montrose wine director Vincent Decup called it 'the ultra-concentration of the Cabernets'), but again it's balanced by softly seductive tannins. There was a little less mildew here than at Montrose, so they managed a 45hl/ha yield, harvested between 18 September and 4 October. 3.65pH. 93IPT. Drinking Window 2024 - 2036. 93 points." Jane Anson, for Decanter Magazine, Apr 2019------"The sibling property of Chateau Montrose, Tronquoy-Lalande has a bit more clay in its soil profile and is more inland than Montrose, perched on the hilltop. The 2018 Tronquoy-Lalande is composed of 51% Merlot, 44% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc. Deep garnet-purple colored, it springs from the glass with vibrant scents of baked black cherries, mulberries and plum preserves, plus suggestions of spice cake, Sichuan pepper, tobacco leaf and menthol. The full-bodied palate is jam-packed with juicy, black fruit layers, supported by ripe grainy tannins and plenty of freshness, finishing long with a peppery kick. 2023-2044. 93+ points." Lisa Perotti-Brown MW, Wine Advocate, Mar 2021------"The 2018 Château Tronquoy-Lalande comes from deep clay soils perfect for Merlot and is a blend of 51% Merlot, 44% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the rest Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Yields were healthy and above average here. This deeply colored beauty is loaded with notions of black cherries, blackcurrants, damp earth, and tobacco. Rich, medium to full-bodied, rounded and layered, with a sexy style, it has ripe tannin, thrilling purity and a great finish. 94 - 96 points." Jeb Dunnuck, May 2019

Tasting Notes"This wine is a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, and 5% Petit Verdot to be aged for approximately 18 months in oak barriques, 35% new. Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2018 Domaine de Chevalier starts a little closed before bounding out of the glass with bold expressions of fresh blackcurrants, kirsch, black raspberries and fragrant earth plus nuances of lilacs, Sichuan pepper and menthol. Medium to full-bodied, the palate maintains elegance and sophistication, with a lovely ripe, finely grained frame and plenty of freshness to back up the floral and black fruit layers, finishing long and perfumed. 94-96+ points" Lisa Perotti-Brown, Robert.Parker.com "These guys clearly know what they are doing, and they keep doing it. This wine is consistent even in difficult years but in years like this, where they have the room to manoeuvre, it really shines. This is great stuff, with lovely freshness to the deep fruit flavours. There is persistency and plenty of slate and freshly cut herbs to stack up against the juicy, concentrated fruit. It's a powerful, well handled and confident wine but doesn't push too hard. One-third new oak. Drinking Window 2027-2040. 96 points" Jane Anson, Decanter Magazine "The 2018 Domaine de Chevalier is magnificent. Bright, lifted and wonderfully nuanced, the 2018 has so much to offer. Olivier Bernard turned out a dazzling Domaine de Chevalier in 2018 that speaks to precision and nuance above all else. Rose petal, mint, savory herbs and crushed rocks add striking aromatic top notes to this stunning, breathtakingly beautiful wine. The tannins need time to soften, but I doubt readers will be in a rush. The 2018 is simply majestic - that's all there is to it. The blend is 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 2% Petit Verdot. Tasted three times. 94-97 points" Antonio Galloni, Vinous.com "Possibly one of the finest wines ever to come from the Bernard family's flagship estate near Léognan, the 2018 Domaine de Chevalier checks in as a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, and 5% Petit Verdot that hit 13.5% alcohol and will spend 18 months in just 35% new French oak. Its saturated purple/plum color is followed by a mammoth bouquet of cassis, black currants, gravelly earth, smoked herbs, and tobacco. Full-bodied, deep, brilliantly balanced, and seriously concentrated, it has polished tannins, no hard edges, and a finish that won't quit. It's a heavenly Graves that will keep for 30+ years. 96-98 points" Jebdunnuck.com "Wow. I can't get over the pureness of fruit in this wine with so much currant, tar and wet-earth character. Flowers, too. So aromatic. Full body, yet pureness and brightness of fruit. Layered. Incredible depth and beauty. 65 per cent cabernet sauvignon, 30 per cent merlot and 5 per cent petit verdot. Greatest ever? 99-100 points" jamessuckling.com

Tasting Notes"Vibrant damson in colour. I love the deep creaminess that is evident from the first nose, with hints of cocoa and gunsmoke. There is more clay here than at Canon; about 50% of the vineyard has a clay layer over the limestone whereas at Canon it is closer to 10%, meaning Berliquet is less ethereal, more urgent and powerful, still with precision and feathery chalky tannins. They have restored the underground limestone cellars for barrel ageing. A yield of 45hl/ha. 45% new oak, for what is the 2nd full year of the Canon team working the vineyard. Thomas Duclos consultant. Drinking Window 2026 - 2042. 93 points." Jane Anson, Decanter
