Reserve Chardonnay

Tasting Notes"The 2023 Chardonnay Reserve comes from the estate. The juice was oxidatively handled and aged on the lees for 11 months in 500-liter barrels. This has a very complex bouquet with wild honey, orange pith and fine mineralité. It just soars from the glass. The palate is well balanced with fine delineation. It's tensile, focused and vibrant, with a precise and persistent finish. If there's a better Chardonnay from the Cape this vintage, I haven't tasted it. 96 points" Neal Martin, Vinous.com

Tasting Notes“The 2023 Syrah Estate Reserve comes from the estate, 50% whole cluster and aged in 500-litre used oak barrels. This is very intense on the nose, very complex and Cornas-like: black fruit, volcanic rock, cracked black pepper and a touch of thyme. Wonderful delineation and it really evolves in the glass. The palate has exquisite balance, a keen line of acidity, touches of allspice and white pepper, gaining depth with a structured finish that has wonderful symmetry. A quite brilliant Syrah from Samantha O'Keefe.” Drinking Window: 2027 – 2048. 96 points." Neal Martin, Vinous, Aug '25

Tasting Notes"The 2023 Viognier The Age of Grace comes from several vineyards. It was made in an oxidative style, whole-bunch-pressed and aged in a mix of concrete eggs and multi-format oak. Delineated and focused, this takes time to open in the glass, unfurling with lemon curd and nectarine. The palate is very well balanced with a killer line of acidity. There's real tension and mineralité, so that it is almost Chenin-like on the finish. Excellent. 93 points" Neal Martin, Vinous.com

RED 2023 Moss Wood - Cabernet Sauvignon 75cl £280 per case of 6 Moss Wood
Cabernet Sauvignon
2023 / / 75cl
£280 per case of 6
IB
Tasting Notes"The 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon is powerful and layered, with a long finish. The tannins are firm, abundant and tightly knit, and they wrap around a core of dark fruit. As the wine sits in the glass longer, the tannins begin to soften and gain suppleness, allowing the fruit and other elements to harmonize further. As this happens, the beauty of the vintage begins to shine through, revealing freshness, energy, balance and drive in equal measure. This is a superb wine, and given all the elements here, it will age wonderfully too. It isn't dense or brooding like some of the other vintages have been; this has detail, life and energy. It is really excellent. 14% alcohol, sealed under screw cap. Drink 2026 - 2056. 97+ points" Erin Larkin, RobertParker.com------"Deep crimson. Intense blackcurrant, espresso, roasted chestnut aromas with hints of black olive/ spice. Inky deep and generously concentrated with ample cassis, black cherry, mocha flavours, superb roasted chestnut/ marzipan notes, and classical fine-grained tannins. Builds up claret/ cedar firm with a lovely pure black currant plume. The oak is still dominant but offset perfectly against the fruit. Give it a few years and this wine will show its exceptional class. 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc, 4% Petit Verdot. Matured in French oak barriques (15% new). 98 points." Andrew Caillard, The Vintage Journal.------"The 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon is extraordinary. Tasted first from barrel, it was a picture of restrained power and nothing has changed with seamless and perfectly composed aromas of cassis and red currant with a gentle lining of dried herb. This is a wine of elegance, pinpoint balance and precision rather than brutish power with firm yet fine tannins beautifully integrated to support a velveteen finish of astounding length. The purity and energy remains unchanged on day 2 which marks this as an Australian classic in the making. Get your hands on it, any way you can.  98 points."  Angus Hughson, The Wine Pilot------"I’ve been waiting for this wine to be released for some time. I had great expectation that this wonderful vineyard from this exceptional vintage would produce something equally exceptional. Well, guess what? It has. This is such a beautiful example of what Moss Wood cabernet is all about. There’s nothing big and brutish here. This is elegance. This is precision. This is brilliance. High-end florals on the nose with traces of violet, red currant, and then on the palate, that beautiful, restrained suppleness that deceived so many people in the early years of Moss Wood reveals itself, and yet as always, there’s a deep and lingering intensity that persists through to an exceptionally long finish. This is simply stunning. I do not believe there has been a better Moss Wood.  99 points." Ray Jordan, The Wine Pilot------"No doubt many winelovers have been eagerly awaiting this wine, one of the last of Margaret River’s big guns from the stunning 2023 vintage. This brilliant Cabernet saw all parcels harvested fermented separately in small open fermenters. Maturation was in French oak barriques, 15% new. The final blend included 4% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot. Deep maroon with a magenta edge, there is such power and finesse in this wine. Balance, length and structure are all world class. A take-me-now-Lord wine if ever there was one. The great 2023 vintage strikes again. Is this the best wine Moss Wood has ever made? It certainly must come very close. The nose reveals aromas of cassis, mulberries, plums, charcuterie, cigar boxes and blackberries. The structure is seamless through to the silkiest of tannins. There is great length and persistence here and the balance is knife-edge. If you doubt me as to the brilliant quality of this wine, please see if you can find a wine from Bordeaux at this price which comes close to this quality. Then we’ll talk. This is just a cracker. Thirty years standing on its head.  99 points." Ken Kargett, The Wine Pilot.

£175 per case of 6

Tasting NotesSOLD OUT "The 2024 Coddington Chardonnay is alive on the palate with preserved lemon rind, tendrils of crushed shells and layers of brine. It is electric, in its way. There are salted and crushed nuts on the middle palate and length, which uncoils through the finish that allows a second and third look at the detail inherent within. This is very exciting and also creamy. It was tasted as a tank sample prior to filtration and bottling. 2025-2039. 94-96 points." Erin Larkin, Wine Advocate

Tasting Notes"The 2024 Estate Chardonnay is floral and tightly coiled, with a scratched lime backbone. It's not as complex as the Ray's Road tasted alongside, yet it's utterly composed and restrained. It is mineral and very good indeed. This was tasted as a tank sample prior to filtration and bottling. 2025-2034. 90-92 points." Erin Larkin, Wine Advocate------"Is the 2024 Chardonnay Estate the best ever here? Quite possibly. It displays excellent concentration, especially considering this is "just" the estate wine. The 2024 is absolutely banging with intensity, tension and punch. There's a lot going on for your money. Expect a lightly infused brightness with scintillating citrus and integrated nutty layers and complexity. Plenty to unravel. 92 points" Rebecca Gibb, Vinous.com

Tasting NotesTIED 1:1 WITH 2023 ESTATE OR RAY'S ROAD "The 2024 Hunting Hill Chardonnay is the ripest in alcohol of the 2024 releases, and it feels powerfully layered and driven on the palate. This is rich, almost thunderous in its positioning, with salted citrus and exotic spices (star anise/fennel/scraped vanilla pod). The oak here is polished and elegant, smoothing down any stray, loose hairs. The barrels have been air dried for three years and lightly toasted. The finish is tight and focused. This was tasted as a tank sample prior to filtration and bottling. 2025-2039. 93-95 points." Erin Larkin, Wine Advocate

Ray's Road Chardonnay

Tasting Notes"The 2024 Rays Road Chardonnay leads with a spicy, almost exotic nose, while the palate strides in smooth, sleek movements. This is creamy and a little nutty, and there are wet limestone notes in the mouth, alongside yellow citrus and layers of dried herbs, cracked fennel seeds, ginger root and fruit flavors. A lovely wine, it's weighted on the back palate and long through the finish. I tasted this as a tank sample prior to filtration and bottling. The Ray's Road vineyard is on a limestone base and has been significantly worked and replanted since the Kumeu River purchase in 2021. 2025-2039. 92-94 points." Erin Larkin, Wine Advocate
WHITE 2024 Lismore Estate - Cuvée Blanc Reserve 75cl £209 per case of 6 Lismore Estate
Cuvée Blanc Reserve
2024 / / 75cl
£209 per case of 6
IB
Tasting Notes“The 2024 Cuvée Blanc Reserve is a blend of 90% Roussanne from the farm planted in 2016 that grew back after the fire, augmented by Viognier. The variety comes through strongly on the nose with nectarine and tangerine, very intense and defined. The palate is medium-bodied with a velvety smooth entry. Real y pure, seductive fruit, gentle grip, a most weightless on the finish, but th-s is packed with flavour. Samantha O'Keefe mentioned that th-s is planted on a very cool slope and I think that benefits this cuvée. 94 points. 2025-2042. 94 points." Neal Martin, Vinous, Aug '25

Reserve Chardonnay

Tasting Notes"The 2024 Chardonnay Reserve comes from dry-farmed vines on steep slopes that tend to produce small bunches, matured in 500-litre oak barrels, 30% new. If you find better aromatics on a Cape Chardonnay in 2024 than this, then do let me know (usual address). Stunning delineation, real depth and mineralité, blossoming with aeration. The palate is very well defined, nicely poised with tangerine, white peach and light nectarine scents. Very poised and very sustained, this is the kind of Chardonnay to pour for your best friends. 2026-2042. 95 points" Neal Martin, Vinous.com

£233 per case of 6
IB
Tasting Notes“The 2024 Viognier Estate Reserve is handled oxidatively and spends 11 months in 500-litre barrels, 5% new. This has an expressive nose with wild peach and almond scents, perhaps the previous vintage with a little more precision. The palate is medium-bodied with a lovely, waxy texture, moderate depth, with a touch of stem ginger towards the finish. Very harmonious with plenty of personality, this is a classy Viognier. Drinking Window: 2025 - 2033. 93 points" Neal Martin, Vinous.com
