Tasting NotesFruit for the domaines Hautes-Côtes de Nuits Rouge comes from vines on clay-limestone soil in the commune of Meuilley, a few kilometres south west of Chambolle. Aged for 12 months in 15% new oak. Earthy aromas and grilled meats on the nose, along with very pure, concentrated black fruits, confirmed on the palate. RKL------The 2024 Bourgogne Houtes-Côtes de Nuits Rouge has a well-defined nose with wild strawberry and briar scents, as if holding something back in reserve. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, a little sterner than was expecting with a pleasing edginess on the finish. Drink over the next three to four years. Tasting NotesA blend of grapes from vines in two lieux-dits vineyards in the village of Vougeot, just a couple of kilometres from Chambolle, on clay-limestone soils. Aged for 12 months in 20% new oak barrels. Piercingly fresh, pretty, floral aromas and fruit on the nose, cherry and blackberry, with some earthy notes. The palate is more taut, with cranberry flavours and chalky acidity. The tautness and concentration of the '24 vintage make this one of the most enjoyable vintages of this cuvée to date. RKL------"The 2024 Bourgogne Rouge offers cranberry and strawberry scents on the nose with touches of lavender in the background. The palate is medium bodied with slightly firmer tannins than the Passetoutgrain, with a bit more bite and tension on the finish. Decent enough. Drinking Window: 2025-2030. 86 points" Neal Martin, Vinous.com------"A fresh, bright and cool nose combines notes of both red and dark berries with those of earth and all but invisible wood. There is fine volume to the delicious and vibrant middle weight flavors that possess better than average depth and persistence for the appellation on the lightly austere finale. One to consider. Tasting NotesThe domaine's holding in the Charmes premier cru is just 0.63 ha in size, with predominantly limestone soil, at 270 metres altitude. The wine spends 17 months on average in 30% new oak barrels. The cool limestone soil accentuates acidity and freshness, with more intensity of aroma than the village wine...violets on the nose, but also intense, rich earthy-humus notes. Full of earthy power on the palate too, along with concentrated blueberry and cherry fruit. Les Cras seems to have excelled in the '24 vintage. RKL------"The 2024 Chambolle-Musigny Les Charmes 1er Cru, cropped of a decent 35hl/ha due to younger vines, has an engaging though understated bouquet that opens with brambly red fruit, briary and subtle iris flower scents. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, quite fleshy towards the second half though not as complex as other recent vintages. There is just a touch of bitterness right on the finish. Nevertheless, it should gain cohesion during the remainder of its barrel maturation though it is outflanked by the outstanding Les Cras this year. There is fine richness to the equally dense medium weight flavors that are noticeably more refined yet also a bit more powerful on the lingering, balanced and more structured finale. Tasting NotesThe domaine's holding in Les Cras is even smaller than that in Les Charmes, just 0.37 ha. In most vintages Les Cras shows dark, brooding fruit when young and needs time, but the 2024 has an added elegance and energy, as well as a beautiful texture. Possibly the most impressive Les Cras we have tasted. RKL------"An expressive, cool and quite airy nose derives more from the red side of the fruit spectrum with being liberally laced with hints of spice and wet stone. There more elegant, if slightly less concentrated, middle weight flavors are markedly more mineral-driven while exhibiting fine length on the balanced, lightly austere and equally firm finale. Lovely and understated in style. Drink: 2032+. 90-93 points" Allen Meadows' Burghound------"The 2024 Chambolle-Musigny Les Cras 1er Cru was cropped at just 19h/ha, much less than Les Charmes this year. This is graced with a bewitching nose with blackberry, wild strawberry and hints of violet, a little richer than the Charmes. The palate is very intense with ample ripe blackberry and raspberry fruit, lightly spiced with a detailed and harmonious finish. This is an excellent Chambolle for the vintage, victorious in context of the inclement vintage. Drinking Window: 2027 2045. 92-94 points" Neal Martin, Vinous.com |

Tasting NotesFrom a 1.2 hectare plot on clay-limestone soil in the heart of the Chambolle commune, aged for around 17 months in 25% new oak barrels. Yields were just 22 hl/ha in '24, resulting in very concentrated fruit. Beautiful aromatic nose of violets, wood smoke, Victoria plum and dark cherry. Fresh acidity accentuating the supple tannins and a velvety texture. Excellent length on the palate. The old vines really do lend a concentration and depth on the palate rarely found in village wines. RKL------"The 2024 Chambolle-Musigny Vieilles Vignes has quite a floral bouquet with scents of white flowers and potpourri that infuse the transparent red fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, a pleasant fleshiness but there is just sufficient grip with a dash of white pepper on the finish. Drink over the next several years. Drinking Window: 2027 2035. 87-89 points" Neal Martin, Vinous.com ------"A more deeply pitched nose features notes of plum, dark cherry, spice and a violet top note. There is better volume to the delicious and caressing but punchy flavors as the old vines are in evidence while delivering good length on the dusty, lightly stony and lingering finale. This isn't especially refined but offers plenty of character and overall, this is also one to consider provided you're willing to cellar it for a few years first. Very fine raspberry and cherry aromas on the nose, violets, thyme, then supple tannins on the palate, with a dry finish with some bitter notes, which Benoit says reminds him of the 2016 vintage.
