2020 Enclos Tourmaline En Primeur

Released this afternoon, alongside sibling-estates Châteaux Haut-Brisson and Tour St Christophe, Enclos Tourmaline is a 'micro-cuvée' from the tiny 1.2 ha estate of the same name in Pomerol, owned by financier and wine estate owner Peter Kwok.  His investment and relentless pursuit of quality has elevated Enclos Tourmaline into the premier league of Pomerol. Situated in between Le Pin and Fleur Petrus, only around 3000 bottles are made each year, hence the wine is offered in cases of three bottles.  James Suckling scores the 2020 vintage 96-97 points.  The release price of £295 per three bottles puts this at around 8.5% above the price of the 2019, which was scored identically by Suckling.

Offered en primeur, landing spring 2023.

Producer Profile

Enclos Tourmaline, Pomerol

Enclos Tourmaline is a tiny estate in Pomerol, just 1.2 hectares of 100% Merlot, owned by financier and vineyard owner Peter Kwok. Produced in small quantities only during great vintages, the first vintage produced less than 1,000 bottles.  The estate is named after Tourmaline, a multi-coloured precious gemstone. Made from three distinct parcels of vines, each contributes a different character.  The wine is aged in 100% new oak.

Michel Rolland is the consultant oenologist and Jean Christophe Meyrou is General Manager, with Peter Kwok's son Howard Kwok in overall charge.
