Tasting NotesRecently bottled. From eight different parcels of vines totalling five hectares, with 45-85 year old vines, mostly on gravelly soils. Dark but still delicate black fruits, cassis and kirsch aromas on the nose, extremely pure and layered, even some hints of cacao. Amazing finesse and elegance to the tannins, a beautifully structured wine. If you could only drink one red burgundy from Gevrey, this would be a candiate. Suspect this will drink well soon after bottling. RKL------"Lightish cherry red. A little darker fruited than the Beaune Les Teurons but more red fruit than usual in Gevrey. Lovely peppery touch on the palate and so open and aromatic. That peppery freshness on the palate, intense, ripe but fresh fruit. Tasting NotesThe domaines holdings in Latricieres are made up of two parcels, planted in the 1930s and 1950s. This grand cru often produces wines with lots of fine, aromatic complexity. Barrel sample. The 2022 is sweet-scented with red and black fruits and coffee aromas. Powerful but fine tannins, with expansive fruit on the mid-palate, numerous layers of flavour, although the complexity is nascent for the time being. The finish shows lots of minerality. An absolute winemaking masterclass, this challenges any notions that burgundy like this is expensive, tasting it is such an awesome experience. RKL |

Backward yet enticing on the nose, it is laden with tertiary red fruit and quite loamy, but the terroir floods through here. The palate is well-balanced with an almost citric spine of acidity, counterbalancing the density and power of this Mazis. The palate is quite tannic on the entry, then settles down to a more harmonious mid-palate. It's slightly lactic in style-its richness is countered by acidity. Dense crimson colour, plenty of oak but a massive fruit weight to match. So different from Vaucrains, vastly more depth and energy though I still crave for the finesse of Vaucrains. The rich, solidly concentrated and weighty larger-bodied flavors are at once supple yet powerful with a taut muscularity, all wrapped in a wonderfully persistent and complex finale where the only nit is a touch of warmth. In the context of the 2023 vintage, this is a big wine and one that will need at least moderate patience. 92-94 points" Allen Meadows' Burghound------"The 2023 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru is very succinct on the nose. It doesn't race out of the blocks but skulks around like a moody teen, biding its time before offering blackberry, raspberry and forest floor scents. It's not the most complex Chambolle, yet there is plenty of energy here. Tasting Notes"A perfumed and attractively elegant nose is comprised by aromas of black raspberry, cherry, soft wood and wet stone. Here too the palate impression of the medium-bodied flavors is supple, seductive and succulent while flashing more evident minerality on the lingering if mildly sweet finish that isn't really intrusive but I can't say that it appeals to me. To be fair, it's quite possible that the sweetness will dissipate in time as the oak treatment is more completely integrated. 89-92 points" Allen Meadows' Burghound------"The 2023 Chambolle-Musigny Les Cras ler Cru, matured with 30% new oak, has a little more precision and a touch more mineral drive within the red fruit than Les Charmes. Tasting Notes"A ripe and quite fresh array combines notes of black cherry with those of spice and an admirably discreet dollop of wood. The succulent and caressing middle weight flavors possess solid volume before concluding in a robust, powerful and slightly warm finish. This is not really in the mode of a lace and grace Chambolle but does offer fine depth and persistence in an age-worthy package.
