The palate is medium-bodied with succulent ripe black fruit notes, touches of blueberry and raspberry coulis and just a hint of licorice toward the finish. It is far superior to the Les Chênes Carteaux. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, crisp red berry fruit laced with orange rind and a touch of black pepper. It's slightly lactic in style-its richness is countered by acidity. Dense crimson colour, plenty of oak but a massive fruit weight to match. So different from Vaucrains, vastly more depth and energy though I still crave for the finesse of Vaucrains.
